Where do I start?

Good news!

Each series in this world can be used as a starting point. There are currently three eras.

First Era: To Keep an Emerald Rose

Second Era: Tethered or Of Earth and Flame

Third Era: A Game of Love and Betrayal

You can start wherever suits you, and as you read your way through the world, you’ll find Easter Eggs scattered throughout.

Recommend Reading Order for the Four Kingdoms

Because Of Earth and Flame and Tethered share a timeline, there is a recommended reading order for them (if you want one).

First a little background:

Tethered takes place at the same time as Of Ash and Ivy. An event in OAAI directly creates an event in Tethered.

Both Tormented and Treasured take place between the end of Of Ash and Ivy and the beginning of Of Shale and Smoke. (So during Of Thistles and Talons)

When you read the epilogue for Of Thistles and Talons, the reasoning behind this is clear.

Personally, I recommend:

Tethered, Tormented, Of Earth and Flame, Of Wings and Briars, Of Ash and Ivy, Treasured, Of Thistles and Talons, Of Shale and Smoke, and finishing with Troubled.

There is a big crossover in Of Shale and Smoke. Because of that, it is highly recommended to leave Of Shale and Smoke until right before Troubled.

Please note: Troubled takes place after Of Shale and Smoke. It begins at the second epilogue of Treasured and it follows a different couple than Tethered, Tormented, and Treasured. It is a standalone novel.
